Check out my final thoughts of Visits from the Rhine Valley

My d4 DICE reviews are a quick and easy to digest review of a board or card game. Along with a brief introduction to the game I use DICE as an acronym for Duration, Interaction, Complexity and Engagement to quickly explore a game. Enjoy!

Visits from the Rhine Valley is an expansion to the successful wine making worker placement game, Viticulture. This expansion is a brand new set of eighty visitor cards that replaces the existing visitor cards in the base game.

d4 D.I.C.E. Review

Duration

The expansion does not add additional time to the core game. The visitor cards replace the existing visitor cards. So, with the new visitor cards from Visits from the Rhine Valley a game of Viticulture will take around 60 minutes at the lower player count to 90 minutes at the higher player count.

Interaction

I feel that these visitor cards add more positive interaction between players. There is no negative interaction introduced with these cards and Viticulture still remains the “friendly” game that it was.

Complexity

The new visitor cards don’t add any additional complexity in to the game they just add different ways of doing the same things you can do in the core game.

Engagement

As with the core game the engagement is high for me. These replacement visitor cards don’t change that.
